HERITAGE PARK
THE HERITAGE CONCEPT - www.heritageprk.com
INTRODUCTION
The 200 hectare farm known as Die Bos, bordering the N2 highway in Somerset West, Western Cape (30 km from Cape Town), is being carefully re-developed into an entire and complete secure town called HERITAGE PARK.
Its new name conveys the historic legacy of the land dating back to 1703 when it was first granted as private land. The Morkel family acquired it in 1718 and farmed it for five generations. The ancient Cape Dutch homestead
and oldest dove cote in South Africa are a tribute to its past yet without
compromising this antiquity, we move into the future to create a new era
for this land.
After many years in a dormant state the land will create employment for
around 6000 people and homes for a whole new community. The natural beauty
of the area will not suffer as existing woodlands and mountain streams will
be retained while landscaping and beautification around the developments
will ensure a pleasing environment.
The town, like any other, will have schools, shops, offices, places of
worship, parks and houses. The difference is that the whole town will be
secured by an electrified perimeter fence monitored by the town's own
security force. The concept of whole town fortification has been with us
since medieval times and it seems appropriate to take a leaf out of our
past and install it into a safe future.
